The area and exercise of worksite wellness today essentially involves three terms – health, wellness and wellbeing. Other terms also seen used include: thriving, flourishing, health promotion, optimal living and excellence of existence. However the big three are health, wellness and wellbeing.
As these terms are utilized interchangeably or as synonyms, I’ve wondered precisely how different or even the same these terms are? After I presented out this i believe, I figured it might be not so difficult to simply look-up their definitions and that i might have my answer.

Fritjof Capra and Pier Luisi within their 2014 book, The Systems Look at Existence, define health as “a condition of well-being, caused by an engaged balance which involves the physical and mental facets of the organism, along with its interactions using its natural and social atmosphere.”
The 2013 Edition 22 of Taber’s Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary defines health as “an ailment by which all functions from the mind and body are usually active.”
In Merriam – Webster’s 2006 Medical Dictionary, health is “(1) the health of a living thing a treadmill of their parts that performs its vital functions normally or correctly the condition to be seem in body or mind freedom from physical disease and discomfort. (2) the health of a living thing with regards to the performance of their vital functions, especially as evaluated subjectively (How’s your wellbeing today?).”
Stedman’s seventh Edition Medical Dictionary for that Health Professions and Nursing, 2012, has defined health as “(1) the condition of the organism if this functions optimally without proof of disease or abnormality (2) a condition characterised by anatomic, physiologic and mental integrity capability to perform personally valued family, work and community roles ability to cope with physical, biologic mental and social stress a sense of wellbeing freedom from the chance of disease and untimely dying.

When analyzing and thinking about definitions, it’s important from the conceptual perspective to understand that definitions are just area of the perspective. For conceptual clearness, one must also consider context and relevancy to be essential as areas to pay attention to too.
Understanding health in relationship to worksite wellness isn’t as simple as defining the word.
